Transmission may also occur from contaminated food, liquid or eating utensils.To reduce the risk of exposure, hands should be thoroughly washed after going to the toilet, after finger and/or hand penetration of the anus, after handling condoms and sex toys or other objects, after sex, before eating and before preparing food or drink.Washing sex toys thoroughly after use can also reduce the risk of transmission. Condoms should be used over sex toys, and for oral and anal sex.
